Both sets of covers remind me of the illustrations that would be in YM Magazine. Anyone remember YM? It was like Seventeen and other teen-girl magazines. Anyway, the articles were often illustrated just like that. I'd expect there to be a tampon ad on the facing page.

Yep. Bought a couple of copies for reading material while on a family trip. That's when I first discovered Tiffani Amber Thessien.

A friend got me a subscription to YM from 2001-2, when I was 12-13. And my middle school would get rid of old periodicals before every summer break, so I got more older issue of YM and Seventeen and Teen Vogue too.

I still have a bunch of issues in a box in the garage. Definitely know one of them is the YM LOTR issue. The subscriber copy has Elijah Wood on the cover, and I remember being mad because the newsstand copy has Orlando Bloom on the cover and I liked him better.

YM stopped printing in 2004, so not long after. It ran for 72 years!
