Oh god, I never thought of that, and now I'm kind of shipping it. It feels a bit like Col. Brandon/Marianne, which I adore. Hmmm, I wonder if there's fic...

There's lots of fic with Georgiana and Colonel Fitzwilliam. It seems to be the favorite pairing in fandom for both.

It squicks me out, personally, but I've learned to accept it/ignore it.

1. The fact that he was nicer than Darcy was kinda the point of his character (that and the Jane/Bingley secret)
2. He very well could have married a wonderful, rich heiress

That's pretty much the point of the character though. He's nice and charming, and he and Elizabeth get on well, but since she has no inheritance to speak of and he is a second son, neither of them even entertain the idea of courtship. But I too live in hope that he finds a nice heiress to settle down with (in fanfic that's often Miss Bingley, but I'm not really down with that).
