As far as stylish fighting goes, I'm partial to Equilibrium. It's like a campier version of the Matrix crossed with 1984.

As far as the best fighting period, I'd direct anyone to Jackie Chan's earlier works or the works of Bruce Lee. You can see each hit and each impact, and the amount of effort that goes into each shot. Truly great martial arts.

I might be the only person on the planet who loved the fact that Goku & the Z-Fighters vs Frieza in Dragon Ball Z took five bajillion episodes to finish. I really, really, really like long fight scenes as long as there are occasional breaks or changes in the fighting style, it gives scenes an epic feeling and an empathy with the characters (because they want it to be over as much as you do, rather than you and the characters feeling different things) that well-paced epic fights can't quite replicate.

And the hilarity of how preposterously long it was kind of took on a life of its own and added a whole extra dimension to the scene. I was so young when I watched it that it became insanely memorable.

My favorite type of fight scene is where the heroes are at a huge disadvantage and barely able to hold off the guy they're fighting. But now that I say it, I can't really remember specific great examples.

The fight scenes are about 50% of the reason why I watch RWBY.

In particular, the episode with the epic food fight is one of my favourite fight scenes in anything ever.

I liked the huge fight in Kill Bill vol. 1 along with the fight with Oren. Also that fight between past!Evie and the lady who cheated on the Pharaoh with Imhotep in the Mummy 2.

Most if not all of the JLU and JLA fights.

And Jackie Chan's fight choreography in general, I always love watching the fight scenes in his films.

An episode of The Closer had an awesome fight scene. Detective Andy Flynn - mid-forties, fit but not *fit* - and an unknown assailant a few years younger. Flynn was attacked in a parking lot (the guy had a knife) and the fight was so *real* - it's my favorite scene. They use anything and everything to try and take the other guy out, there are no fancy moves or super-human feats, just two guys slugging until they can't. I mean - windshield wiper blade! Trash can! Seat belt! All weapons of the moment.

Of course, the best 'that'd never fly in real life' scene is either Leelo fighting the bad guys (Fifth Element) or Steve and Winter Soldier fighting under the bridge (including what Sam and Natasha are doing).
