..shared household rules, sense of shared/separate identity due to attempting to differentiate each other in the eyes of your parents, competition for parental affection...

My younger (full, biological) brother I have always had separate household rules (he's severely disabled, as in can't even use the toilet on his own). There was never a need to differentiate. The difference in our parents' eyes was clear. And there has also never been a competition for parental affection between us.

And for me, "incest aversion" is actually how I separate "sibling" friends from regular and potential-romantic-interest friends. I have a very good friend that I think of as the older brother I never had. The thought of doing anything remotely romantic or sexual with him.. ewwwwww.... And he's a good looking dude!

Just adding a little more to maybe consider.

Fair enough. I failed to think about the first condition, and I really should include that in my paradigms.

I'm not sure incest aversion is the same as not wanting to bone someone who is a friend but that might just be apples to apples at this point lol.
