Ah. See, I was thinking ostracize as in to exclude him from things and ignore him, which didn't wash with playing baseball and being a part of holiday parties.

There is a song in one of the longer Charlie Brown specials that they devote to him. It's called "Failure Face." And even after he competes at the spelling bee and becomes a hero of sorts, the second he fails, everyone but Snoopy seems to give up on him.

Also in the Halloween and Christmas specials, he was never actually invited. Halloween, he was there by mistake and Christmas, Lucy wanted to get him out of his depression, so she asked him in and the rest of the kids are completely against him being director.

So his ostracization was not so much in being ignored, but being completely run over and pushed down into where he no one respected him or considered him anything but a failure as a person most of the time. Linus was one of his few genuine friends throughout the series but even he can snap at times.
