I know no one wants to hear the ol' 'Not all ----!' argument right now, but the Star Wars fandom is absolutely freaking enormous, and not entirely comprised of lonely racist white guys. Generalizing a fandom that spans worldwide as racist is really pushing it. ESPECIALLY considering the "racist" backlash over the casting of women and minorities in the new film was revealed to be massive trolling orchestrated by some bored assholes. Some actual racists latched on, but the trending hashtag was a big prank.

But whatever. I'm actually conditioned to be more trusting and sympathetic to non-white non-male characters, but that's just me. Of course.

Yeah, this. And the US isn't the only country where Star Wars is big. I think Japan has the biggest fandom ever, Star Wars is everywhere. The racist backlash comes from a minority of basement dwellers, that's it.
