sadly, i too read Taming Riki. the BDSM/constant sex annoys the shit out of me, but under all that i like the story :/ plus most of the other writing out there makes my eyes bleed, so at least TM is written coherently.

Obviously Riki and Iason wouldn't be a fluffy pairing and Riki remains rebellious, but that doesn't mean it has to be all BDSM and sex. After all, Blondies aren't supposed to have sex, so it doesn't make sense for Iason to go all sex fiend. In the end, the story was a love story. People just have no imagination.

exactly. i cant even picture Iason paddling Riki, or any other type of things. it just seems to go against all the things Blondies are supposed to be about. maybe one day the story will actually be released and more fans will equal more creativity.

I'm probably about to sound like a total jackass here, but there's canon bondage in AnK, amirite? I mean I probably agree about not being able to see Iason paddling Riki or anything, but there are other things that I don't think would be a total stretch.

..but I mean, it's a yaoi fandom, there's bound to be a lot of weird shit going on in fic.

Also, as far as what Blondies are supposed to be about...
Under Jupiter's restrictions, the Blondies are sterile and forbidden from indulging in sexual activities. The "pets" are purely for voyeuristic purposes. Further emasculation is seen in the "Furniture," eunuch slaves who serve the Blondies.
...I don't think the creator even knows, as there's clearly sex between Iason and Riki while it's claimed that Blondies don't have sex/pets are for looking at. :|

Just because there is some canon bondage doesn't mean that every derivative work must be pure bondage. Don't people have imaginations anymore?

Blondies aren't supposed to have sex, but Iason broke the rules to be with Riki. Thus he's an exception, not the rule. And being sterile doesn't mean you can't get it up.

OKAY thanks for clearing that up, it's been a damn long time since I watched and I was going on wiki-notes. I'm totally aware that sterility doesn't mean you can't have sex, haha :P

Yes. I used to have fun being a yaoi fan. Now I hate 90% of other fans. *sighs*

Yeah, the story is pretty complicated. That's what makes it awesome. It's not just one thing, it's a lot of things. Iason, a very highly positioned man in the society, broke all of the rules to be with Riki. He took in a mongrel, and not only that, but he went a step further and fell in love with him. He went against everything for Riki and in the end, Riki realized this. It was very bittersweet. I wish more stories were as rich as Ai no Kusabi.

^ what they said. and just because there is bondage doesnt mean it is there for sexual purposes. to my knowledge the only bondage type stuff to appear are chains, and that is simply to chain Riki like the pet he is. there is no indication that Iason ( or anyone else ) gets off on chaining him up/that he enjoys BDSM, he's just training his pet. not saying people shouldnt write it at all, do whatever floats your boat. but when it takes over the fandom and people act like it's some sort of totally cannon thing is pisses me off. but yes, yaoi fandom has a tendency to...ruin things haha :[

Yeah. As we've pointed out, Blondies weren't really sexual creatures. Iason was the exception. I think a big thing is, fangirls can't wrap their head around such pretty boys NOT having sex. They MUST have sex and since Riki is so rebellious, it OBVIOUSLY has to be BDSM sex!

The relationship isn't necessarily a LIE, since we've been together for over four years now and we originally hooked up for outside-of-fandom reasons. It's just that there's only the one thing holding us together right now.

Though, I can't say I disagree with what everyone has been saying. Even if it's not the same type of relationship, I can easily find someone else and still be happy... and that's what I'll most likely do.

If RP is the only thing holding you together, the relationship is a lie. RP is not a relationship. It's a fun pastime, not the basis of a relationship.

I suggest in the future you keep your OTP and your relationship separate. Less messy that way.

Yeah, you're right. Even if it wasn't a lie in the beginning, I suppose I'm lying to myself by thinking that I can make it work out. (It HAS been a long relationship, so letting go of it is difficult anyway even without the fandom basis... but we'll both most likely be better off like that.)
