(Anonymous) 2008-02-22 02:15 am (UTC)(link)But the point of the secret was that I wish we lived in that sort of completely unrealistic, overtly idealistic world. Still, I think that, even if it was taking place in our world, Crystal Tokyo would actually do some good. The rulers don't need anything, so they wouldn't really need to start any wars or anything like that. And I don't believe it was ever stated that the whole world was ruled by this monarchy; I was under the impression that the countries were pretty much left to ruling themselves -- as long as they didn't start wars/killed their own people/whatever.
I know in the manga it's hinted that eventually Usagi will no longer be Queen (though she will be Sailor Cosmos, correct?). But the amount of time Usagi will be Queen is just . . . inconceivable. We have no idea exactly for how long any of the Senshi will live. And after Usagi, we get Chibiusa, so. The world as we know it would probably not even exist at that point, so even if eventually a bad ruler did come along, who's to say it would even make any difference?

It's unclear in the anime, but in the manga it's strongly hinted that they rule the whole planet, since in their past lives Endymion was "the" prince of the Earth. So, it's sort of hinted that Mamoru gets his "inheritance" of the whole planet.
Also in the manga, it's unclear how Chibiusa will inherit the throne...whether Usagi will die from extreme old age ( lD;) or if she'll step down and retire. We are told by King Endymion that once Usagi becomes Neo Queen Serenity and is at her most powerful, the Ginzuishou grants long life to everyone, even normal people. I don't remember if the manga was clear on whether the 1000-year lifespan is just for those of the White Moon (the royal family AND the Senshi) or if everyone gets to live that long.
I...personally don't believe Usagi becomes Sailor Cosmos, but most fan opinion disagrees with me.

Really, the anime and the manga are pretty much unclear about everything. The manga only hints at most of the facts about Crystal Tokyo, but I'll concede on the point about them ruling the whole planet. About the lifespan of people, though . . . I don't have the manga with me, but I think that the 1000 year lifespan was only for normal people. Otherwise, none of the royal family/senshi would be around in 3000 AD, and we know they are.
I've gone back and forth about Usagi becoming Sailor Cosmos. It makes sense, but it doesn't. Maybe she's just a reincarnation of Neo-Queen Serenity?
(I haven't discussed SM seriously in forever. It feels awesome.)

I never believed it. It doesn't make a LICK of sense to me. I think "Sailor Cosmos" is a title. The only possibility I thought of was maybe a distant descendant? But I don't really like that e_e; I dunno.
