I have only ever come across this once, and it was a LotR fic. Why would this fandom in particular fixate on it?

And I've only ever come across it in a recent Silmarillion fic with an author who rarely writes consensual things and in this case wrote it very noncon. So I've never seen this written as a consensual kink.
