I'm glad the show helped you in some small way. I thought JJ did a great job of dealing with some sensitive issues; it seems to have been a decent place to start a discussion.

As for Kilgrave fans...it's a mixed bag. Some of them are aware of how awful a person he is, some seem to think he's not 'all that bad' and just needs someone to teach him right from wrong because 'he had a rough childhood'. As long as villains exist, there's going to be someone making excuses for them.

Yeah, I really appreciated how the show made it explicit that he had a rough childhood and he thought it excused him going around raping people, but Jessica refuted his whining.

I found that refreshing too (and he lied about certain things too!), though some of the fandom listened to his wining and actually believed it. A small number, though.
