I always leave long reviews on fics, and the writers thus far have responded very positively (which is great, because I worry that I'll be rambling or babbling and they'll want me to shut up :p). They actually seem a little shocked that someone would take the time to type out such a lengthy review, 'cause it's just not that common a thing.

And it's definitely led to some awesome conversations between myself and the author sometimes as well, which is really nice and fun.

I can understand people feeling awkward about leaving reviews for various reasons, and if people don't want to review for whatever reason, that's their decision. I'll never pressure them. But speaking as a writer, I will always love it when people do comment on something I wrote. I love reading their thoughts, and since writing is a passion of mine, it's just great to get that feedback that can both be encouraging and help me continue to improve.
