If they didn't I'll eat a hat. (I don't have one, someone give me one and I'll eat it.)

Especially in the acorn scene...

Ain't no way I'm believing someone sat down to write that and didn't find it at least a bit romantic. (That and Thorin's death scene was so not a death scene between two friends; it played out more like 'almost lovers'.)
