Interesting. I shipped Harry/Hermione since book 1 (though I actually now more ship Harry/Ron/Hermione than anything else). I liked the idea of Harry/Ginny but hated the way it played out. And I hated Ron/Hermione. Just not ever going to be my cup of tea. I don't like that type of bickering relationship. Ron and Hermione only ever work for me when harry is there too.

But in the movies I didn't really ship Harry with anyone? Like, I think Dan and Emma had some chemistry and Emma and Rupert had none (and Dan and Ginny's actress also had one). But I didn't really feel like they had enough chemistry for me to ship and I didn't think the way the relationship was written on screen led to the same shippy feelings I got in the books (except in DH part 2). And on rewatches the movies haven't held up as well in general. I don't think they are as good adaptions as I used to think.

About the films not holding up well, I've come to that realization recently as well. I still enjoy the books for the most part when I read them, but I find myself not really liking to watch the films very much anymore. Funnily enough, I quite like the first two films now, especially CoS, because when the films were first released I didn't like them as much as PoA and HBP. But now, I just feel like the more the series went on the more I just nitpick how rushed the films felt. I also felt like the films tended to be really self serving, especially in the latter films.

I agree about the first two. They've grown on me more. I still love some of the bits (McGonagall is spot on, for example). But some things really ruin it for me (Voldemort's portrayal is so wrong).
