My favorite thing is never at the parties I go to, unfortunately. It's summer sausage. It is a wonderful compliment to a cheese platter and wine. I also totally go for bread over crackers, usually. Some toasted baguette points, or herbed foccacia, or cheese bread... YES.

I also dig having dried fruit at parties. Dried mango is a favorite. For cheap things to put out, yogurt covered pretzels or raisins.

Good cocktail fare, I love bacon-wrapped dates. Filled with goat cheese if you're fancy. Sprinkled with brown sugar and crisped up.

For a dinner buffet, I like rice dishes. My go-to potluck dish is Moroccan rice with raisins and nuts and herbs/spices. Nom nom.
