See: "NCIS" fandom. Classic example of this. I'm not even a regular viewer of that show, but I've read some of the fic for it and holy crap, the way some writers (especially Tony fans) treat Tim/Ziva/Kate in some of their stories...
It wasn't just in stories. Tony fans also did it in discussions of the show. ("How dare Tim make a negative comment to Tony after he pranked him for the millionth time!" "How dare Ziva be a meanie to precious Tony!") And it is why after being hugely involved in fandom for years, I ended up leaving. It just got so bad. And I'm still bitter about it because NCIS fandom was such a big part of my fandom life for so long.
