i'm right there with you, anon. i wrote a few Jack/Rhys fics but always had to preface them with a multitude of warnings and promises that i was well aware of how problematic the ship is because i was so worried i'd get hatemail if i didn't (and i saw the sort of nasty comments others were getting). i probably spent about two and half weeks in the fandom before i disappeared because i was so sick of all the gatekeeping.
