+1000

And I used to like Spidey, until he was ruined for me by of one two many shitty movies in conjunction with certain writers *coughcoughBENDIS,SLOTT,AND,QUESADAcough* destroying and twisting around and generally fucking up everything I liked about him in the comics.

Same. Another white male getting the spotlight? Jesus marvel, will you're failures to recognise the year we live in ever stop?

Miles Morales wouldn't save shit. Consider what people would still be in charge of him.

I dont even with this comment. Are you trying to make a fucking slavery joke?

You have a valid opinion. Please keep it in mind when Deadpool hits theaters.

I hate deadpool too.

Agreed. What IS the appeal? I can't see it for my life.

I don't hate him but the humor everyone goes for with Spidey is not my cuppa. He's definitely one of the Marvel characters I tend to prefer out of costume.

Aww, Spidey is probably the only superhero I DO like! The franchise's sci-fi undertones appeal to me, even if the science is nonsensical. And he's the only popular superhero who isn't a super tough guy in his 30s who more or less has his shit together.

Spidey is a good character that's had some bad writers and editors.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-05 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I still have Spidey fatigue from the early 2000s franchise...

Get off the Internet, Jameson.

Is he even going to be a large part of the MCU? (I think he's supposed to have a small cameo in Civil War, everyone's been talking about it, but as for his involvement in future films, I have no idea.)

TBH I don't care either way; none of the films have jumped out as anything but 'okay' and I don't have any desire to see him again.

If he shows up in an Avengers film or something, I'll deal with it, but at this point I would much rather focus on other characters.

He's got his own film in phase 3 so we're getting him fully in the MCU.

How much he plays into later Avengers films though I don't know, and atm I don't know how much I care. I like the guy from the comics but it feels like we've seen a lot of Spiderman over the years so my enthusiasm is a little dulled.

Could be good though, but we'll see.

Hahaha, like we haven't already had like...what, five Spider-man films in a little over a decade?

If Marvel wants to go that route that's fine, but they would probably have to shove some non-Spidey character into the film before I would care about seeing it.

I like Spidey but I can't say I'm amazingly pumped about him coming to the MCU, all I know is that they need to do something different with his story otherwise it's just going to be the 3rd variation of events we've already seen.

But I'll see what they do with him before I make up my mind as to whether I'm yay or nay MCU Spidey.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter has been shit for years. The only way to redeem him at this point is pretend his last 7 years of stories never happened and that One More Day was some grant morrison-esque comic book induced high.

As for his inclusion in the MCU, the only way I'd be excited about it is if they included his friendship with Matt/Daredevil, but seeing as how Peter is a high schooler AGAIN and is stupidly more associated with the Avengers rather than his street Marvel buddies, i doubt that'll happen.

So count me on the whole do not want train.

I loved Spidey as a kid, then went through a period where I hated him, and now I'm okay with him. Idk I think I just get tired of characters when they're overused.

Thing is, and I'd love some input, but I don't know what other character could have taken his place in a film adaptation of Civil War. His part of the story is really important/interesting and I don't know that any one else fits. Y/N?

I love Spidey, but I don't see how he can be more than a slightly forced cameo in MCU right now.

I don't, mostly cause I just don't read the comics, but as far as films go? I'm just sick of him.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-06 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
The only thing I want to see is Spiderman fanboying Captain America and being a total nerd.

Otherwise, yeah, Spiderman in the movies needs to go away for a while. And I like Spiderman but I don't think anyone has done him right in the movies and I haven't picked up the comics in years.

I think I'd be more interested in an older, married Spiderman. But they keep going back to his origins as a teen/very young adult. I like the more mature versions of the character better.
