I guess it just hit too close to home for me because I've had bullies in my life exactly like her and I related a lot to Sadness. So I had a hard time sympathizing with her. But I liked that it was clear she was wrong and I did like the movie in the end.

Fair enough, I was partly responding to Op as well... we're not supposed to root for Joy's bullying we're supposed to learn along with Joy and with Riley that it's not good to try and shove our emotions to one side.
