Re: Vent thread!

So after a couple of weeks of waiting, I finally found out why I didn't get a promotion I'd applied for--I already knew I'd interviewed well, and I'm apparently very productive and competent, which is nice to hear. But I have this one supervisor. Luckily for me (and them honestly) I only work with them one day a week. My main supervisor likes me, and so do the supervisors of the other locations where I work occasionally. But apparently, I'm expected to stay at this location with a supervisor who thinks my every sneeze is insubordination (and it never used to be but it's really hard to stay neutral on someone who loathes you) and work things out with them for a year if I want to promote. Which would suck anyway. But I was offered a schedule that would mean not having to work with them anymore, before I got this info, and I'd tentatively accepted because it would make having a workable class schedule so much easier. I was so frazzled when I got the advice to stick with the supervisor who hates me that I didn't even think of how that would fuck with my school schedule. So, because I want to graduate before I drop dead of old age, I'm gonna take the school-compatible schedule I was offered and leave the location I was told to stay at (because otherwise I obviously didn't want the promotion enough to suffer for it.) I really want a promotion, and I've been getting comments from people who don't even like me wondering how I could've been passed over this time. But I'd rather have a degree in two years than a promotion in a year. Plus I think it's cruel to force us to work together; the supervisor is as miserable having to deal with me as I am with them, but not even being used as a mutual-tolerance object lesson is going to make us get along at this point. And just to be a bitch, this person is a shit supervisor.

Bad supervisors are the worst. :/

I hope that getting a degree sooner will lead to more opportunities in the long run, OP. It might be the better choice overall anyway!
