Pure evil, truly menacing Villainesses

(Anonymous) 2015-12-06 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the OP of Secret 1 today, and I happened to be thinking about this recently, so this seemed like a good time to make a post in General Comments.

I was thinking about the Emperor from Star Wars, and how he was meant to be calculating, menacing, and basically evil just for being evil. My mind tried to come up with female equivalents, and I wasn't able to come up with any villainesses, or at least, any that weren't also made menacing due in part to their sexuality or wearing a revealing outfit.*

So I'm curious if anyone can think of villainesses who are evil (ideally of the calculating/menacing variety) without it mostly being about her boobs.

(Male examples of the type I'm looking for; The Emperor, Voldemort, Amon Goeth.)

*Though upon thinking about it as I wrote this, I suppose Maleficent from the original Disney Sleeping Beauty might count. I just don't remember her very well.

I don't know about evil, but Lamb from Bioshock 2 is certainly something of an egotistical, calculating villain incapable of conceiving a reason for anyone to oppose her that didn't involve them being "selfish" -- which she had declared to be the ultimate evil. But she's also off-screen for nearly the entire game.

Terrible example maybe but it's the best I've come up with.
