Meh, imitating a style isn't that bad. It's a part of the development of all writers and artists.

+1 Outside of studying life, copying other artists is actually a very important part of development and really shouldn't be something that people feel they have to "call out" (I do think if one particular artist is a heavy influence in your work, you should credit them but it shouldn't be a witch hunt if someone forgets.)

The only thing I'd say is that I don't think it's wise to only copy ONE artist because they will always do their own style better then you. The way to get an original style is actually to copy a lot of different artists.
