Story of my life. And it's worse because I keep rats. You go to the shelter thinking you'll get one but then 'aw this rat needs a buddy! and I can't just leave his brother behind!' and you get three more rats to add to your colony of 8. And then a rat dies so you need another rat to fill up the space, but that rat needs a buddy so you get two more and then you need a bigger cage...
