Movie where a child is standing on one side of a glass door and can't be seen bcuz of the light?

That is the only thing I remember for sure. I think the man on the other side is a bad guy. And he comes up to the glass door but he does not see the boy because the porch or indoor light is on. So all he sees is his reflection.

I think it was set in the 30s or 40s.
