(Anonymous) 2015-12-07 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)The only thing that seemed to help was fanfiction. Why? It was relevant to me, and something I could understand. Because of fanfiction, I could follow plots, see signs of an upcoming event, understand the motivations of characters, and if anyone used a word I didn't know, well guess what? I looked it the fuck up, because I actually gave two shits.
While it's true I would eventually branch out to regular fiction, for a while, I was reading nothing but fanfiction. So really, you have no idea what might drive a person to read it.
