He did lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, yes. But regardless of how he looks, pretty sure he's healthier now than he was before. He was having serious problems with high blood pressure and other issues, and a lot of the physical ailments he had that he'd assumed was age have improved significantly.

He's healthier unless he damaged his kidneys or liver during the weight loss. That can happen during crash dieting and obviously it's life-endangering because it's kinda permanent.

I believe he did say his progress was monitored by his doctor. I don't think he's dumb enough to go on a crash diet if he thought there was a chance of it killing him.
