You're kidding, right? Shouldn't this exact same argument apply to official concept art too, then? And heck, why not screencaps as well -- you didn't direct it, or photograph it, or design the CG models for it, after all. Van Gogh or some other famous artist's work? Welp, you didn't paint it, so it's not yours to use in icons. Or other people's characters -- did you create 'em? No? Then they're not yours to use -- in your fanart or your fanfics or your RPs, either. Wouldn't we all be fucked over then?
Jesus fuck. As long as you specify the source, what fucking difference does it make?
