39: Where have you been? It's what all the fans who think of themselves as "cool" (and the Slytherfen of course) think nowadays. Since DH were released, comms have been overflowing with meta of how inferior the series is, and what a hack Rowling turned out to be.

No, not really. I've never really connected the Slytherfen (and by that I don't mean the ordinary Slytherin fans - Slytherfen is to Slytherin fans what Harmonians are to sane Harry/Hermione shippers) with critical faculties and decent writing...

I'm afraid no one's ever connected JKR with those things, either. And canon lovers finding convenient straw shippers/fans to beat doesn't change that. Sorry!

O RLY? Sorry, but that... just isn't true.

That I liked the books doesn't mean I find them flawless, or that I'm completely happy with how everything was handled, or that I think Rowling is a perfect writer. I just know how to express myself without sounding like a fanbrat.

Not the OP but saying that the quality declined doesn't automatically equal "JKR is a hack". There is a noticable difference in the quality of the later books versus the earlier books and it has nothing to do with shipping or whatever.

But it's also a matter of opinion, isn't it? For example, I think the writing style improved over the series, but that certain plot elements weren't given enough time. I also really liked the way the storytelling matured as a reflexion of Harry aging, but I think the part about him and Ginny were plotted badly.

It's all a matter of how one expresses oneself - as a sane fan, or a fanbrat.
