3. Y'know, I'm not saying you were, but when I took my college Shakespeare class, nothing pissed me off more than people who didn't want to be there. Mostly because they put forth no effort, asked truly stupid questions (the kind that had the professor staring at them for a moment while trying to figure out if they actually asked what he thought they asked), and laughed all during Macbeth.

6. Huh. Interesting. Let's chalk up another nice and positive sort of secret then. I like those.

7. MONKEY ISLAND!!! I loved all the voices; I can't imagine playing with it turned off. But man, I loved those fruit-headed cannibals!

13. I'm inclined to agree about how much cooler it would've been if Mello had been a girl

24. I agree. I'll ship Disher/Sharona so hard, but the idea of Monk/Sharona or Monk/Natalie...it just doesn't gel. I hate when the writers actually start hinting at romance between him and, well, anyone.

28. Well, the only one of those I "read" (or even recognized) was Frankenstein, and I was rather underwhelmed. I do like classic literature sometimes, it's just...I think with Frankenstein and Jekyll&Hyde, the hype and fanon has just made the canon...boring in comparison.

30. repeat?

31. Aw. That's really sweet.

32. Oh yes, Ginny the "I'm uber powerful, apparently, but I'll just stay home and do nothing for awhile."
Honestly, I think Rowling is incapable of writing or coming up with a single healthy relationship. At all.

37. Seconded. I really do hope there's not some sort of snark-fest though. At this point, I'm hoping for Rose to be mature and nice to Martha just to spite the haters. (And for Martha not to get too annoyed with Rose.)

39. You won't be. Even the hardcore fans will gather and admit "Yeah, those last two books...they kind of sucked mightily, didn't they?"

40. I wanted to like it. It had cute moments. But it was just...I don't know, it tried too hard to be too many things and failed at all of them.

41. Oh man, Nuriko. That scene choked me up like woah.

44. I didn't know that. Is he like "let's have all CG" or is he just a fan of the genre on its own and not taking over 2D?
That...wow, that really depresses me. He's one of my favorites ever.
I was a little 0.o when I realize his father's responsible for Family Circus.

48. I'm not sure if this is a repeat, or if you just had the same secret as someone else from awhile back, because I remember agreeing about this before. I mean, I have great friends. But sometimes, when I was really down in highschool (especially during the really awful parts involving family bipolar disorder...), I would pretend he was real, because I knew whatever was happening to me, he'd probably give me a big hug, and cry louder, harder, and stupider than I did over how much life was sucking, and then it would just be funny.

52. ROSEANNE SECRET FTW!

OP 40

EXACTLY. It's not that I thought the concept of Enchanted was horrible, in fact I think it could have been done really, really well. It's just the execution that failed so badly. They had too many threads of satire going and didn't deliver on any of them, the characterization fell flat at a lot of points, and it stretched credibility without admitting it was stretching credibility. (Plus the animation was truly terribly drawn, but that's a different issue all together.)

3 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-02-25 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
A bit belated, but no, I wanted to be there. I've always adored Shakespeare, and I DID put effort into that class - and I got a whole lot out of it, too. (Twelfth Night and The Winter's Tale became two of my favorites, and I learned what a pain Measure for Measure is.) I just never, never, never would have considered actually wasting a class space (I'm an accounting and math double major!) on SHAKESPEARE if it weren't for Ros and Guil.

Well, yes, I know that sounds completely contradictory. I adore Shakespeare, but much in the same way that I adore Chaucer and Hardy and Dostoevsky. They are- well, wonderful and brilliant. But I like more concrete things, most of the time. Wow, it is 4AM, watch me talk in circles.
