32 - See, I loved H/G since book one and I saw it coming...and when it finally got here, I was glad at first to finally be canon, and it shut up all the harassing rabid naysayers in the fandom. Then I re-read it. And I found the more I read it, the less I liked it. And finally, I couldn't ignore it anymore--the execution of H/G was not done very well at all.

But I figured it was ok, it was supposed to be dorky, and it'll get better. I mean, Ginny is going to prove herself to us since we've been getting hints and allusions to her power via JK's interviews.

And then DH happened. Ginny didn't.

I don't think I ever forgave JK for not delivering what she promised.

39 - Same. I really feel like somewhere along the line, she saw how much money she had and said 'Fuck it! I can do whatever I want and people will pay for it because I'M JUST THAT AWESOME!'.

I'm happy with the pairings. I'm crushed with how TERRIBLY they were written.

Yeah. Kinda makes me think of the Beatles in the later years. Not that they weren't awesome. Just that they'd throw things like "Revolution #9" and "Why Don't We Do it in the Road" in with the good, because hey, they were famous, and half their fans were probably stoned enough to think it was brilliance.

You seriously sum it up for me. Actually, at least one of the pairings really bothers me (and some of them I wish she'd just shut up about--the future pairings and all), but H/G and Lupin/Tonks always seemed sweet and cute to me. They just...sucked in the execution.

Yeah, I notice we seem to agree on quite a few things. Marx bros. included! :D

I still own all the HP books, don't get me wrong--but I can't help but think she seriously failed her fans in the last books. I loved the concept of H/G and even Lupin/Tonks--but one had bad execution, the other barely had any build up!

I mean, I saw the foundation for H/G--a lot of people did, even if it wasn't as glaringly obvious as R/Hr. But it was there--it's just the way she handled it was SO sloppy.

And don't get me started on Remus/Tonks--I was upset that we never actually saw him being happy with her. Overjoyed about Teddy? Sure--but truly happy with Tonks? Never saw it! He was always emo-ing about this and that to ever really enjoy being with her and it kills me! Tonks was so badass in book 5! Why couldn't she stay that way?

To be quite honest...if she had spent more time having them interact and less time making Ginny into whatever it was she became, I might have hated H/G a little less.

I'm just sayin...if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right, you know?

I can't say I disagree--book 5 had them interacting perfectly, when Harry wasn't all CAPSLOCK RAGE! The Ginny we were told about through the first books was finally starting to show through and we were seeing how cool she really was...and then the other things we were promised about her--her supposed power, for one thing--never got showcased.

I would have been a lot happier had their interaction been more developed through books 5,6 and part of 7. I wouldn't have minded if they didn't really hook up until after the war--I would have settled for them making it known to the other that they were interested and waiting. I would have at least like to have been spared the Spider-man rip-off that was the end of book 6. X_x

I just had to reply at this, but I AGREE most especially at this part! XD!

Heh, I'm a bit the opposite of you. When I started reading I never saw it, and I was, "EWW" when I saw fans way back when the series was just out. Right up until OotP I disliked the pairing, and then I kinda grew to like Ginny and hoped JKR would make the pairing something I'd grow to like. HBP dashed those hopes! I still like H/G a bit in fanfiction, but can't stand the canon development. Particularly since DH didn't endear them to me any more. :/
