Am I the only person who likes H/G specifically because it was left a bit more to the background?

Because I've gotten so sick of my other fandoms making everything all about the OTPs that I kind of love having a fandom where friendship is more important that romantic love.

(I also want to find post-DH fic that is also more about frienship than shipping, and it's damned hard)

But it wasn't left in the background. It was practically the entire plot of HBP for the Gryffindors. It's just that any development was left out, so there was far too much 'Harry has a terrible metaphor in his chest' and 'Ginny had a personality transplant' and not enough 'Wow, I really believe these people could make a marriage work when one of them seems to like his wife because she's hot and agrees with him alot, and the other wanted him as soon as she knew he was famous.'

IDK I honestly thought Ron and Hermione's relationship had more screentime...? I haven't done a scene count or anything, but that's what it felt like to me.

And Ginny doesn't really agree with Harry so very often, and I think it's unfair to hold Ginny's feelings when she was eleven against her now that she's fifteen (regardless of how their relationship was written in HBP). Obviously in time as she's become his friend, being famous isn't the reason she likes him anymore.

I can understand that. I think the problem was that the basis for their friendship was starting to be built in book 5 and then all of a sudden it was CHEST MONSTER RAR. I didn't care of the pairing but I did like Ginny and Harry's interaction in OotP and would have liked to have seen more development.

Being in the background wasn't the problem for me. Heck, look at pairings like Bill/Fleur! We barely saw them at all, but the relationship was shown to be quite lovely by the end of DH.

My issue is that the friendship wasn't even that obvious. Let alone anything more than some snogging.
