It's been however many years since the movie was released and I still can't fucking believe they went with that for Bane's voice

It's so, so fucking stupid

I liked his voice. :(

Actually, I think part of it might be something specific to me. Because his voice does have an uncanny resemblance to the voice one of my childhood friends would do when he was trying to do an "old man" impression for a joke.

Like, it's legitimately ridiculous how similar it is.

It wasn't for me although I see what they were going for, but it is kind of funny to me that after everyone made fun of the Batman Rasp, Nolan doubled down and said "And here's an even WEIRDER voice!"

I was underwhelmed by the opening, but I enjoyed the movie a lot more after that point. (Including Bane, though I don't see him as perfect, and it was difficult to understand him at times. Then again...look at Bale.)

Because atmosphere. Seriously, Nolan is good at that. That booming Inception sound screws up your cognitive processes and makes you think whatever you're watching is HIGH DRAMA. Or something.

I think Honest Trailers called this movie entertaining while you're sitting in the theater but enraging once you start to think about it, so a lot of people must have had that experience.

True! I remember someone said that he could make a whole movie of car chases - and it's not like he's doing anything crazy or different, he's just very good at atmosphere and timing.

I will always love this move for giving us the greatest meme of all time.

I just keep thinking "hey it's Stuart from Queer as Folk" all the time.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-09 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. The thing about movies is they're basically all broken and unrealistic when you pick them closely enough. The role of the movie is to keep you entertained to the point where you don't notice it, because you're completely buying into the premise of the story.

A well-written film is not a film with a 100% rock solid premise. It's a film that entertains you to the point where you don't notice that it doesn't.

Yeah, sooo many movies are full of plot holes, everyone just has different thresholds for it, or how much else they need the story to have going for it to forgive it. Personally I love TDKR even though it's Swiss cheese, because I enjoyed it enough to not really notice the first time I watched it.

I love that this movie has forever made the words "for you" hilarious to me.
