This is my favorite theory about that!

Yeah, I've talked about similar theories to that. To me that's one of the few that makes sense, but I don't have such high hopes that the movie will actually show this type of nuance to the characters.

True, and YMMV, but I feel pretty good about the Russos in general. They gave us so much about Natasha in Winter Soldier, and pretty economically. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

I am afraid to build up my hopes too high lest they be shattered :( I'd rather go in skeptical and end up pleasantly surprised.

I can sort of get behind this but...eh. Tony seems to be quite capable of navigating social circles and situations. And I would think that he would have enough reasoning skills to know that his relationship with Rhodey and Bruce Banner (not mentioned in the article and a WAY more developed friendship) is different that his and Steve's relationship.

I also think that given everything we've seen, it's stupid for anybody in that universe to think that Steve WOULDN'T give everything for Bucky. I mean come on.

I know! Even if Tony and Steve were friends, why would Tony think Steve would give up the person he has almost died twice for?

Again, given nuance, it could be interesting to have Tony being jealous because he wants to have more of a relationship with Cap, or a form of wishful thinking on his part, or just plain denial, but that's not really going to make me go ;-; their beautiful broken friendship~

I don't mind that. Like, Tony basically pulling Steve's pigtails in the worst, most over the top way possible (because Tony only does things in huge ways). Or being abnormally jealous. But I don't want that if it just ends with one of them dying.

I'm gonna go with Steve is Tony's rebound-friend because Bruce went on the run again and misses him and Tony can't track him 'cause he's off-planet, ahahaha

Not that that makes much sense, but it does make me feel a bit better.
