PDF reader (kind of an emergency)

(Anonymous) 2015-12-09 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
So, my trial for Adobe's PDF reader has expired. I need to renew so I can update my resume... but I really can't afford to pay for much right now.

I hate to ask this, but does anyone have any torrent links? Ugh. I barely know how to torrent, but I can learn. Or I at least know a couple of people who could help me out. Either way, all I need is one torrent. I do have uTorrent, at least.

I really need to make these resumes though. Word just doesn't cut it at all.

There are free, open-source PDF readers. Like Foxit.

NA
That you can edit PDFs on? Because I think that's what OP means, despite calling it a "reader."

Pretty sure you can edit on Foxit. I used it a lot when I was doing tax prep homework last year.

There's Foxit but Adobe Reader has always been free as far as I know.

+1 Adobe Reader is free. Maybe you had the pro version, OP?

Back when I was last searching for work and no longer had access to acrobat distiller, I would make my resume and other documents in Open Office writer (I didn't have Word, either), save it as a word document, and convert to a pdf using this site:

https://www.freepdfconvert.com/

You're limited in how many times a month you can do this with the free version, though.

As time went on, I also signed up for a subscription service somewhere that let me do things like extract pages from pdfs and assemble multiple pages together into one pdf document, as well as convert an unlimited number of times. I don't remember what site that was, though, and the place I linked above doesn't seem to offer that (it wasn't through Adobe, since that site required committing to a long subscription period that made it cost nearly as much as just buying the program).

Anyway, between stuff I found online and one trip to FedEx to print stuff out for a company that insisted on hard copies only, I was able to do all my job applications without buying any new software (or hardware).

If you've got Word 2010, you can use the Save As to save as PDF. So just use your Word document as always, then Save As to PDF. Otherwise, I'd go with one of the free recommendations in the threads above.

I don't think you can edit documents in the regular, free adobe reader.

My Adobe Reader is free? Not sure what the difference is between the free and yours....?
