Yeah, see, most of the people here seem to be of a similar opinion - I feel that way myself. But on the other hand, a fannish FB group I'm on had people crying and lamenting and going BUT SO TRAGIC and tears everywhere, so clearly some people feel that they had a meaningful friendship.
Personally I think they're either shippers, so already invested in the relationship, or people carrying over feelings from the comics.
