If it's the South in you, it's the South in me too. Bucky doesn't strike me as an odd nickname at all.

It is so a southern thing. I'm from the South too and I'm like "Sounds like a reasonable nickname to me."

Must be the South in me, too. It doesn't seem odd to me, especially in the '20s-'40s, which is the time period when Bucky got the nickname.

Maybe it's a southern thing, yeah. I grew up in NY and never heard of such a name/nickname before. It sounds more like something you'd tease a kid about if they had odd teeth (bucktooth).
