How familiar are you with people and lifestyles outside the socioeconomic class you belong to?

Do you mainly associate with people who are the same or different socioeconomic classes as you?

Pretty well, I think. I grew up really poor. But because I had really good grades, I was in most of the advanced learning classes. Most of those students were middle class to upper middle class. So most of my friends were/are MC/UMC.

Most of my friends are a lot less wealthy than I am. Several are much more wealthy. I actually only have a small percentage of friends in the exact same socioeconomic class.

I thought about this and realized I don't associate with anybody in my socioeconomic class. Huh.

My work involves interacting with people from all different socioeconomic backgrounds, and I'm glad for that. My background has a lot of privilege associated with it, and I'm glad my life experience has gone some distance towards counteracting that.

My impression is that most of the people I know make significantly less money than my father. This includes both me and my mother. Take that however you want.

More familiar than I thought I would be. We're lower middle to middle class. All of our friends are the same, or living paycheck-to-paycheck working class.

But my daughter goes to the "rich" high school in our area. Most of the wealthiest neighborhoods in my town - we're talking multi-million dollar houses here, people - feed directly into our high school. So most of her friends come from rather well-off families. Not like, private school got-a-Porsche-for-my-16th-birthday rich, but definitely got-a-brand-new-car-for-my-birthday and my-family-has-no-problem-dropping-6-grand-on-a-school-trip well off.

Most of my friends have more money than me.

Pretty much everyone I've ever known has been middle class by some reckoning. There have definitely been people who are working class/lower middle class and a few that are upper middle class, but no one I've known well - no one who was a good friend or long-term co-worker or neighbor - who I'd describe as either poor or rich. I come from a family of academics. We're over-educated but underpaid types and the "underpaid" part makes it hard to fit in with most wealthier people but the "over-educated" part makes it hard to fit in with most poorer people. Obviously, there are exceptions. It's also kind of complicated, because my job actually brings me in contact with a lot of skilled workers who make more money that I do and have better benefits, but they seem to see me as being of a higher class because my job requires more education to do, even though it also involves manual labor. It creates some weird tensions.

Pretty familiar. To the point I could actually make use of it if I wasn't so terrible with people in general.

I spend like 90% of my time working with people on the fringes of society.

So fairly.

Most of my close friends are middleclass professionals though.

All over the place I think. I used to be low low, now in coming up on high low and might get to low middle in a few years, fingers crossed. I white friends who are lower, the same, higher and significantly higher. My level and lower, am familiar with lifestyles. A bit uncertain about the higher ones.
