This is my main problem with it too, the relationship has not been established well at all for movie Steve and Tony, like I don't think they hate each other but I do not get 'great buddies' from them either. They come off like co-workers more than anything to me(and that half-hearted bit at the end of AoU to make them seem like they were friends felt so damn forced, especially because they spent most of that movie either no where near each other or once again, bickering).

The exact issue is that it feels like they're relying on the audience knowing the comic-story in order for it to resonate, and tbh as someone who reads the comics I still don't care about movie Steve and Tony being on opposite sides because the movies haven't established that relationship.

I care way more about Steve, Clint and Natasha being on opposite sides frankly.

Well, I think it is pretty well established. It's not not been established to be at all friendly. For example, Tony telling Steve he'd like to bash his teeth in, or whatever, felt completely on par with how they treat each other in the movies, not like something he only said cause he was super mad, you know?

You're right the relationship is established, just not as a terribly friendly one, and if they go with some kind of weird thing where Tony thinks they're better friends than they actually are then that might work. But I've just got this feeling that they're trying to make it seem like MCU Steve and Tony have the same epic friendship like they do(or did) in the comics and well, that doesn't work with what we've seen in the movies.

I'm more than willing to see how they go about the whole thing, but atm I just find the 'So was I' exchange a bit laughable because there's not much basis to it.

Yeah, same. I want to see what will be between Steve and Natasha. That's a lot sadder for me.

Yup, Clint + Steve being opposed to Natasha and Rhodey looking like he's down(omg no, be okay Rhodey) are my main concerns atm.
