condemning anyone liking Kilgrave or Kilgrave/Jessica than people posting it

You know, I haven't seen much of that in other fandoms. Not recently. Like, it has to happen, but I don't run into it much; I feel like it's either becoming less common or I'm avoiding it more easily because of the size of the fandoms. I was actually kind of surprised to run into it in JJ because fandom loves their villains, but I think so many people have met someone like Kilgrave that he feels much more real (and skeevy) to them; it's harder to enjoy his brand of evil.

Still don't think you should be telling someone what they can or can't like, but I find this knee-jerk reaction a bit easier to understand then some.

I thought Kilgrave was a great villain but sympathy for the guy?

Though I agree with that; never in a million years, lol.

Yeah I figured people are reacting this way because Kilgrave, aside from being able to control minds, is the kind of villain you could meet any day, much like how Umbridge is hated so much in the HP fandom. They're both way more real than your Loki's or Hannibal's and for some people they could have a very good chance of bringing up something awful for them.

It's why I get some of the hostility towards people liking Kilgrave, but at the same time you can't tell people what to like, that and there is a huge difference between finding a character entertaining and condoning their actions(fandom has a problem with recognising this tho, on both ends).

Oh god no, I can't feel sorry for him at all, he was the ultimate spoiled child with a persecution complex a mile-wide and he deserved way more than a quick death(but I'll take it).

Ooo, that's a good example. I was never an invested member of HP fandom but I've heard much over the years about the passionate hate people have for Umbridge; can't say I don't understand it.

There's a massive difference, yea. (There ARE always people willing to make excuses for villains but those people are fewer in number then the people who just like them as is. Er, at least in some fandoms.)
