Agreed. Derek started out awful, remained awful, and I celebrated when he died.

Kind of OT but this made me think of something

Anyone who watched FRIENDS may remember the episode where Joey's soap character (Doctor Drake Ramore - sp?) was killed because he pissed off the writers. Some people said that was unrealistic, but low and behold, two decades later... yep.

This is so so true. I never...

Regardless, Shonda is a sadistic b**ch. Killing her love after they adopted a kid and had a baby..and then she is pregnant again when Derek dies. 3 kids and alone. Derek's death is horrible (as someone who lost a loved one that way, it's the least thing I wanted to see) he, who saved many with more serious damage, died because the doctors were not competent. Watch it if you have depression.. Meredith ended up being miserable like her mother and she has the alzheimer gene too.
I feel so bad for their shippers.

They keep assassinating characters and couples for bts crap and shock value and it's getting old, at one point you either start with a new cast or end it. But writers and show runners prefer to give up their integrity.

I think the actor wanted to leave anyway. And I think Derek permanently leaving Meredith and his kids would be worse character assassination.

I know this is late to the party, but I feel that way, too. If Derek had to go, I actually think it was a great point to make about how fallible doctors and hospitals can be, even to their own. Basically, sometimes life just screws you over.

I would much rather Derek die than have him, say, run off with the intern that kissed him earlier in the season.

This way, Meredith's character arc is continuing to learn and grow in wake of the death of the love of her life, too. So if he had to go, I think it was done well.

Huh. This show is still going on? All I know about it is the, "Pick me! Love me!" scene. I guess the guy she loved from that scene is dead? Huh.

I am bemused this show is still going. When did they kill Derek?
