I need stocking stuffers!

(Anonymous) 2015-12-11 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I need some damn stocking stuffers that are not candy! Preferably something where I can buy a variation of one item (last year I got them all silly notepads). Or a kitchen gadget.

Around $5 a piece and able to be ordered off Amazon.

Fancy soap, tooth brushes, corkscrews (if they're wine fans), cool/interesting spices (e.g. Aleppo pepper flakes, chipotle powder, real cinnamon, Argentinan vanilla extract, rosewater or orange blossom water), tea samples...

okay, this is going to sound silly, but my go-to option is knee-high socks.

I don't know, maybe I'm just a weirdo, but I have this intense fondness for knee high socks and the more of them I have, the merrier. Maybe some of yours enjoy them, too? Or something similar? Small clothing items that are sure to please everyone?

And in general, it'd be helpful if you specified whom you're giving the presents to. There are only so many universal stocking stuffers that aren't completely useless.

dude, knee-high socks are amazing and I wish I had more of them, especially in fun colors/patterns.

I genuinely hope I get some this year.

You can search Amazon for any of these things (sorry, can't top it out at $5, have to go up to $10 - but still a lot of stuff for around $5):

+1 for socks. I also like photo albums/small notebooks. You could probably buy a pack of 3x5 photo frames (the lucite ones, for example), print a number of pics for the recipients, and give those. We did that as table-settings for a year-end banquet and everyone loved it. Got to take them home at the end as favors.

I also like those spoons with a small amount of flavored chocolate for stirring into coffee/cocoa.

So, is it too late for me to get a DIY gift idea that requires buying construction materials and assembling? Sawing's involved. And sanding. And painting.

Why do I never think of these things in July...
