I'm sure that's how it was written...and yeah, it IS awful.

But, what would cause that in a real life situation...not much I think? Maybe those people who need to stay in one of those chambers because they're immuno-deficient and can't have human touch. But that's an extremely rare scenario. It also oes further than sex (you couldn't cuddle etc).

Basically all manners of biological function loss can sort of compensated for, unless you're talking about a couple who both ave locked-in syndrome or something.

There are actually tons of brain and spinal injuries, surgical complications, etc that a person can have which would make that scenario reality. Your ability to have an orgasm is basically down nerve function and if those get severed somehow you're out of luck.

Okay but then we're talking orgasm.

So fair enough partner who can't orgasm but desires you?

But in a lot of scenario's they could still bring *you* to orgasm, or they might sexual stuff without orgasming.

Which, sort of brings you to the same situation as the asexual partner who's willing to have sex...only with more frustration.

Yeah, and if it was a case of "oops we accidentally severed the nerves to your genitals and now you have no sensation in them sorry about that" then it would just make me feel bad about being sexual with that person.

At least with option one my partner is guaranteed to not feel bad about our sex life, whether or not we decide to try sex.

Well, in both scenario's I'd prefer the asexual-but-willing partner.

Though I am one of those silly romantics who believe you don't really choose who you love. So, If presented with option 2, I'd try to make it work...but god I'd feel so bad for them because I know how much I'd hate it myself.

Well, sure. If I was already in a relationship and then scenario 2 happened I would still try to make it work... I'd just feel really terrible about the other person's situation.

And also probably feel bad about orgasming in front of them, which almost certainly wouldn't help matters in the slightest.

Yeah but then...what would you do? Orgasm behind their backs? I mean not that I wouldn't masturbate in a relationship, nor report when it happened, but it's a different matter altogether if you're basically hiding it.

Well, probably not. But it'd still be weird to be like "Ahh I just came" if I knew my partner couldn't.

It'd be like eating a piece of cake in front of someone who had to fast because of blood work or something... you know? Only, they had to fast forever.

Yeah.

I'd also feel inadequate to boot. Even if I knew it wasn't my fault, I'd still feel guilty over not being able to make them feel good.

Yep. I'm exactly the same. My partner's experience is the best part about sex, and I'm not sure I could even do it if I knew there was no way for them to enjoy it.
