Jessica Jones - No Spoilers

(Anonymous) 2015-12-11 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
So, I just finished, and I thought it was quite good, but I had the same problem with it I had with Daredevil. They both seemed like they went on 2-3 episodes too long, and at certain points were just re-hashing the same anguish again and again, you know? Am I crazy?

I'm only halfway in, and while I love the characters and themes I have a lot of trouble with the dialogue. I didn't have it in Daredevil. I find it long-winding, bordering on soap series sometimes. It got a bit better, but I didn't expect that in a superhero series of all things.

Yeah, I'd agree, the dialogue is a clunky at times, and also sometimes REALLY on-the-nose? Jessica's internal monologue, especially. I didn't hate it, though, mostly because I kind of enjoyed the call back to the noir genre.

I think the issue is sort of how inconsistent the are with nudges to the noir genre...sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

True, this is a problem.

I agree. I really enjoyed JJ but it would have been even more amazing if it was about two episodes shorter.
