I'm kinda surprised Pokemon's been so popular for so long. You'd think after 20 some years it'd be less so.

I think Pokemon is really good at keeping their old audience while drawing in newer kids. They do lots of stuff to appeal to older fans, like the Origins anime and renewing the older gens or sneaking them into newer gens, and their format in general is just timeless.

But then again, Tumblr is really big on being nostalgic so quite a lot of could just be people reminiscing on Gen 1 rather than people who are still fans of the whole franchise. I mean, looking at the top ships, Tumblr doesn't seem to have changed much from five years ago.

Number of reblogs seems like an inexact way to determine popularity. People arguing about something or criticizing it isn't the same as people liking something.
