Oh god no, there are too many people on the planet right now as it is. I would never be so selfish.

Ehh, having a baby or two isn't selfish. Especially if you're in a country with a decreasing population. Population growth stats can be very misleading for this reason. Countries with higher, growing populations tend to be poorer, and use far fewer resources per person than first world countries. And more than that, it's very difficult to adopt internationally despite what Lifetime movies would have you believe.

Having more babies than you can afford to take care of? Yes, I could agree that's selfish. That includes time, by the way, if you have ten kids in ten years I don't believe that each one is getting the parental attention it deserves unless you have loads of nannies or something, even if you are a millionaire.

Every country needs to have a declining population.

We need a much slower decline in some countries than we are having now. We still have people around from times when women on average had many children, and the result is a skewed age demographic in some countries.

When there's many elderly people, and few young people, it leads to problems.

Yeah, we shouldn't lose more than 60% over ten years. Anything under that is good.

Maybe, but not having any kids, or limiting each family to one child, would intensely skew the population and cause absolute chaos in fifty years. It needs to be gradual so the elderly can be supported.

And people losing the vote at age 55 so they don't fuck over the next generation like the Baby Boomers are doing.

We need population freefall.

If you are not in an income bracket of a country which has a matured infrastructure and are able to give children full support and maximized level of living standards then you should stop having kids right now. The people in the income brackets of the high living standards countries can pick up the slack for the human race. Anything else is selfishness and cultural exceptionalism.
