Do you have a good set of mixing bowls? These are my favorite to use with baking because they're super sturdy and they have lids so I can put the dough in and stick them in the fridge.

Baker's Secret is a brand of pans I like (they're affliated with pyrex and corelle) Wilton is also good, but here are some sets. I LOVE my 9x13 pan with lid on top. You have no idea how absolutely handy it is to have that.

For Marvel stuff, do you want clothes? heruniverse.com is a good start, I have a Dalek dress from them that I adore. Or try thinkgeek and see if there's an amazon similar product.

Hope this helps and I LOVE baking so feel free to bounce ideas off of me.

Do you have any thoughts on beginner stuff for cake decorating? Or cupcake/cookie decorating. I'd really like to get into that!

Wilton products are the best at that. Do you have a local Michaels or other craft store that runs classes? That's where you'll find someone to teach you the basics of cake decorating. If you're thinking of getting into that, ask for gift cards to Michaels. Perhaps Hobby Lobby has classes too, but I'm not sure.

Start small and slowly figure out what you need. Various decorating tips are probably a good start. I'm bigger on cookie cutters (I have sooooo many!).

da

Classes could be helpful, but you can also pick up a lot of the basics just by looking around online (if you prefer). I'd recommend a beginner decorating tip set such as this:
http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-2104-1368-46-Piece-Deluxe-Decorating/dp/B00IE6ZB1U/

I don't know what the instructions are like, but if it's like other kits I've seen, it will probably give you general directions for doing different things, such as, "Aim this particular tip at a 45 degree angle, using moderate and then light pressure" to make a particular shape (and I imagine you could google for a more detailed tutorial if you wanted).

From there, you can just practice! I'm not sure how much piping experience you have, but IMO the most difficult part is being able to maintain that steady pressure. After that, the tip pretty much does the work. For instance, here is a comparison of two decorated cupcakes using the same tip (Wilton 1M); you can pipe in circles either from the center outward or inward from the outer edge, and the shape looks completely different:

And this could maybe be a fun/useful reference if you want to see what tip you'd need to make specific shapes:
