Yes, I have enthusiastic appreciation for the male physique, but it doesn't mean I want to be romantically involved. Sometimes, I just want to smile and look.

Well sure, but that wasn't the question at hand. The comment was about whether or not people would still call "romance" if the two characters were the same gender. The answer is of course they would, slashers often work with far less than one person voyeuristically peeping at another character who is in a semi-clothed state.
