I'm not super excited about this. It looks like they've made it even more action-oriented and even less like Trek should be. I mean, I enjoyed the first tw, but the tone felt wrong and they were too action-oriented. And this one seems to be going further down that path rather than correcting the problems.

I think Sofia Boutella (sp?) makes a GORGEOUS and unique looking alien.

And I actually enjoy all the action and expect I'll enjoy the film whether it's as action packed as it appears or not. (Hopefully it isn't exactly Fast and Furious in space, but I think the whole “stranded on a strange planet" story, while not the most creative, has potential to be something neat. There are plenty of ST episodes that start out that way too, so I hope they do something cool with it.)

If nothing else, it's pretty. (And I like the new costumes! Everyone looks great.)

I'm actually intrigued.

Also, the trailer feels like it was designed for the sole purpose of contrasting with Star Wars, which I hear it will play in front of.

I'm so far beyond even *caring* about the 'New Trek' at this point...meh. It looks like a very typical action-type movie, with actors i simply do *not* like, playing characters I love in ways that make me cringe.

At least this one seems to involve some actual space adventuring, it is getting closer to being Star Trek.
