Does anyone else have this issue?

I'll be on a site and see a link for an article or something that looks interesting but that I don't have time to read at the moment, so I'll bookmark it and continue on with what I was doing, intending to go back later and read it. Except I never do, and I keep on adding more bookmarks and now I've got approximately eleven billion of them and it annoys me that my bookmarks menu/folder is so cluttered, but I can't bring myself to delete any of them, because hey, what if I need that information some day?

And sometimes I'll sit down intending to read some of them, but I'll open one, and it's a long article, and it's got like ten links in it and I've course I need to save all THOSE too and it's just never ending.

Okay, so I know it's not even really a problem and it's really dumb but is anyone else annoyed by this kind of thing?

I sorted my bookmarks into 26 folders, A-Z, so I can actually find stuff. And yet there's still a buttload to scroll down through, because they don't always get put in a folder, so I have to go "Oh that link was about 2/3 of the way down, in between the peanut butter blondie recipe and the link to Fandango." It never ends.

I got a lot of bookmarks but they are super organized. I have them like 8 folders deep.

Have you heard of Pocket? It might be a solution for you.

I have to periodically clean out my bookmarks because I have so many goddamn things saved, not just fics either but random articles I wanted to sit down properly to read but didn't have time to when I first saw it(and then I end up forgetting about them), also I've got some WiP's that I just can't bring myself to delete even though I should because what if they update but really they're just cluttering up my bookmarks folder.

I am not an organised person. :|

I had this problem with my old computer.... So many links I never looked at but wouldn't delete. When I got my new computer I just didn't transfer them; started over fresh. It's kind of freeing!

I organize my bookmarks better now, but I make fewer too.

Sigh. Same thing here. It's a big mess: part things I saved to read later (and mostly never read), part things I loved and couldn't leave free in the wild internet, part things I need all the time/might need.

Organizing my bookmarks is actually one of my planned projects for the next two weeks.

My problem isn't so much that I make a lot of new bookmarks (though I do, I try to clean out the new ones as soon as I'm done with them). It's more that I've been transferring the same set of bookmarks over from old comp to new comp for, oh, about 15 goddamn years. And I don't clean them out nearly enough to make up for the gradual avalanche of crap.

Seriously more than 3/4s of my bookmarks are totally unusable b/c they're so unorganized. -_-;

But I have some free time now and I'm going to use it to take a magical ride into Old Fandom Bookmark land, and clear that shit out!

I used to do that, like a lot. Mostly what I do now is, I just open the motherfuckers and let them hang out in tabs, until I either actually read them or get annoyed at having them open and close them. And I figure if I didn't read them by the time I went to close them, I was never going to read them. Now I only bookmark things that I've already read, if I know I'm going to want to refer back to them or link them to people.

I also recently did a pretty big re-org of my bookmarks - but I didn't even try to prune through my old ones, there's just too many. I just chucked them into a subfolder in my bookmarks folder that I'll never see. Maybe I will prune them someday but fuck it, effort. And my new bookmark folders are actually organized in a way that's useful for saving information.

So, yeah. That would be my advice. Don't sweat losing things, just ignore all your old bookmarks.

I organize my bookmarks by category. I have folders for different types of recipes, folders for every member of my family, folders for fandoms, folders for my kids' school stuff, folders for crafting, folders for writing, folders for shopping, folders for video games, a folder called "to read" for articles I want to read later. Folders for everything!

If I find an article I want to save to reference later, I send it to Evernote and tag the shit out of it.

All my bookmarks (and i've got tons) are sorted into folders, including 'Things Too Neat To Delete', 'Tumblr Saves' and 'To Read & Rec Lists' I've also got things sorted into various fandom folders, and the 'resource' folder which has about twenty sub-folders (Science & Computers, Geology and Plants, Poetry, Animals....)

So if you can create folders, and start sorting things, you'll probably find stuff you *can* delete (links that don't work anymore, stuff like that) and then you can also decided if those things you spontaneously bookmarked are still interesting to you. And maybe make a habit of stopping and reading, say, five bookmarks a day and sorting them away/deleting them.

That sounds a lot like my Hobbit Kink Meme folder. During the time I was hanging around the kink meme, I bookmarked a lot of the smallish fills I read while going through and ended up with a folder packed with stuff that I don't even look at.
