Not just you. One of the things that fannish communities promoted, imo, was a sense of what is accepted and community behavior. I remember starting out, I also wanted to fit in - I paid attention to how people spoke and acted, to see what I should be doing.
But now there's no real community on tumblr, it's just people posting and reblogging. There's nothing pushing them to try and be "like the adults".

That is a good point about the overall lack of community. There are spaces in different fandoms where a sense of community does develop, but sustaining it takes a lot more work. The whole set-up of the site makes the individual the center of everything.

That said, there are norms and mores on tumblr. But they seemed to be focused more on what makes a person an outsider than on what one can do to be an insider.
