What age range(s) do you avoid in fandom?

(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
If any.

And is there any age that you'll straight up stop interacting with if you find out?

I would really prefer not to interact with minors at all, with the currently popular Tumblr mindset.

I haven't gotten to the point of refusing to interact with under-18s yet though. If someone under 18 wants to follow me or talk to me about my fanwork, I feel like I should give them a chance, instead of just assuming they'll be an annoying brat because of their age.

This, pretty much.

I don't like to base how I interact with people on snap judgements, but eh, it's not like I'm harming anyone by tending to avoid minors.

I try to avoid people under 18 because of the way I participate in fandom (mostly through written porn). I won't, like, stop talking to people if I find out they're that young, but I'll probably stop talking to them about porn.

I don't go out of my way to avoid interacting with a particular age range in fandom, but if I stumble across under-18s discussing porn, I steer clear. I have two teenagers at home, and the idea of discussing sex fantasies and whatnot with people the same age as my children creeps me out.

None. I just block people when they start saying stupid stuff, regardless of their age.

I don't really give a fig about chronological age, as my interactions with people I don't know are more or less G-rated.

Now, if you're talking certain behaviors -- yeah, I'll turn the car around and drive the other way if I run into certain actions/opinions.

I knew a teenager on LJ a few years ago that was more mature than a lot of people. I know adults can act like idiots or selfish bastards. It's not age that really matters to me, but how people act.

I don't avoid anyone, but I'd be a tad skeeved if 14-year-olds were reading my fic.

Anyone under 25 can go to hell. And they can take their special snowflake, CoD badassness, with them.
